Wakay Homestay at Batanes: Bang for the Buck!

Wakay Homestay at Batanes: Bang for the Buck!

February 25, 2016

There are many choices available as to where to stay in Batanes but I chose this one.

As a solo traveler who only needs a room and a safe place to stay, paying P350 per night for their fan room is truly a smart decision.

Wakay Homestay is located at 154 Fajardo Street Brgy Kayvaluganan Basco, Batanes. Wakay is an Ivatan word. It means kamote. Kamote is also a popular food in Batanes. The homestay is just 5-10minutes away from the airport. You could even walk from here to the airport if you want.

Aside from that, it is also 5 minutes away from Abad St. which is the busiest street in Basco, Batanes since this is where all the general merchandisers and most stores are located.

Here’s a picture of the busy street of Abad:

Wakay Homestay is just a simple house but it has everything that you need.

There’s a wifi internet connection available. But in case the wifi connection becomes slow, there’s an internet shop just in front of the house.

Fan rooms are much cheaper especially if your travel period are during their coldest months like December to February.

The cost of their fan room with single bed is P350/day. While the cost of their fan room with 2 single beds is only P400/day as well as their fan room w/ 3 single beds.

There’s an aircon also available in their 2 big rooms but prices will change if you’ll use it.

My 3 nights and 4 days here at Wakay is definitely worth it!

If you choose to stay here and book in advance, just look for Ms Esther or Mr Gunding Horcajo. Their contact numbers are 0917-3535356 and 0998-9841062. They also have a facebook page: www.facebook.com/wakayhomestay.

Tell them that I referred you to them. I know they will remember.

Good luck on your stay and God bless!
